About Me

10/23/25 - Bad Gateway errors are happening so often, I might get 10 in an hour. I posted about this on my NB-SB blog.

I am not hosting after early November. At the end of November, I am leaving Swap-bot.

The tumblr community will stay up and the blog will stay for anyone who still uses SB.

I met a lot of cool people and I hope I get to keep in touch! Please TALK to each other! Save each other's profiles as HTML, get contact info and save it in your email contacts, whatever. Just because a site is breaking doesn't mean our sense of community has to go with it!

8/6/25 - Updated my name to my partner's. Hopefully it will keep mail from being misdelivered.

2/25/25 - Opened a Community on Tumblr, which makes it much easier to post images. Most people either have a Tumblr account already, or had one. Please tell me your SB name when joining!

The 503 Bad Gateway errors can mean that Swap-bot's servers are out of date, can't handle the unbelievable amount of traffic that bots bring (much less users) or both. Likely both.

The less security, the more bots. The more bots, the less access to the site for real people. The original owners don't have to do anything- we will see ourselves out, and then they don't have to pay for this website anymore.

Likes/Dislikes

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE put a DATE on any notes or letters! The postmark on the envelope isn't always clear or isn't when that item was actually written.

Please no dog hair, cigarette smells, or strong perfumes. I tend to get migraines and don't have a washing machine, so it could take 2 weeks to hot wash something properly.

Favorite Crafts

  • Hand sewing basic items. I try to use natural fabrics only, including scraps larger than 2x2" for sewing.

  • Papercrafts like art journalling, scrapbooking, and some bullet journal/art journal hybrid work for daily use.

  • Embroidery or sashiko

Response: Back when DeSantis started the "Don't Say Gay" campaigns, I just became extra outwardly gay whenever possible for a nearly-ace person. Pay special attention to queer-owned businesses, local queer publications that don't have money to advertise, etc. In FL, that would be Watermark news, The Sapphic Sun (based in St. Pete), and a few bookstores. tbh I just feel exhausted these days because 'which of these feminist queer titles/people are terfs' and i need a list. too exhausting, will wholesale avoid.

Comment: Dani, I enjoyed your letter, & to answer your questions: I tend to eat more soup in the Fall than I did in the warmer summer months. I love Autumn/Fall as well as Halloween. My main way of celebrating these days is via crafting & swapping. I know what you mean about Florida- I lived there for 8 years. 3 years just south of Tampa, in Riverview. I wanted to tell you, the swap called for an Autumn decorated envelope. I didn't mark down for this, and don't need one sent- just wanted to let you know. Again, thanks for your letter, Tracy

Comment: Thank you, Dani. This is was a very brave, powerful statement. It covered a huge amount of territory: interpersonal relationships, religion, society, health and ethics. The resources alone are hugely valuable, but it went so much farther than that! It brought up a ton of really good points I didn't touch in mine, and now I feel I need to go back and dig deeper. Anything I write here won't do it justice; thanks again for an exceptional statement!
Response: <3 I'm always interested in how other people approach one of the biggest, most impactful daily issues. I feel like the idea informs... pretty much everything we do. Whether we do or don't do something, for who, why, how do we resolve stuff? How do we balance mercy and not letting ourselves be harmed? That's... hard. There's always some part to revise.

Response: 9/5/25 Hi! The LSRUS swap closed in April. This swap has no physical mail, which was stated at least twice in the swap. The last line of the swap also states the partner only receives a digital message, not a physical letter. PCs are only sent to businesses local to you. Your partner is sent a message through SB. SB shows the message sent on April 10th and status is "read." I have sent another copy to your e-mail address. Please message me if you do not receive something next time. 9/27/25 Hi again! I didn't get a response to the e-mail I sent and haven't gotten a message on SB.

Comment: I definitely won't be able to join a "Make Good Art" swap! As it is, I worry about joining arty swaps because an artist will get my stuff and be disappointed. But they sound fun, so I keep joining. As for what I'd want to see, there was recently a whimsy jar swap that I was excited about, but got kicked out of because I hadn't done enough level 3s. I didn't really have specific goals for 2025. Most of my goals revolve around whatever merit badges I'm trying to earn in the Proper Mountain Woman Club.
Response: Maybe you'll join one in the Newbies group, then. <3 It's meant for 'entry-level' stuff with low expectations. We all have to start somewhere, and it definitely won't be at the level of those youtuber professionals who get paid sponsorships. The Newbie group also doesn't have requirements because I angel anything in there, so I encourage people to join just to boost ratings before the busy season on here (late Sept-Jan.) There's a Proper Mountain Woman Club? That sounds so cool!
