Description:

In Greek mythology Pandora received a "gift" of a jar which she was told never to open. Her curiosity got the better of her. She opened the lid, and out came its contents: all the evils of human life.

For this swap, you will need to alter a wooden cigar box. The theme is Pandora’s Box. Please decorate the outside and inside using your interpretation of the theme. You should also include:

  1. Items that would represent your interpretation inside the box. $3-$5.00
  2. Hollyhox pointed out that “Hope” was the last thing out of the box. Please include an item that represents hope.
  3. A small notebook/journal that is covered to match your box. You should start the journal for your partner by giving a brief synopsis of what evil is to you.

Please send a decorated box that you would like to receive. Everyone has a different view on art, therefore, the art is your own expression but the presentation of the box should be something you would like to receive. Slapping some flat stickers on a box is not art.

Since this is a Group swap I am not going through the whole, be on time, flakers, etc.

Let’s have fun with this and see what we come up with.

May we use one of thos wood boxes you can buy at michaels? Are there any general dimensions we should aim for?

I am not sure about the quality of the boxes at Michaels. If it is a good quality box and finishes nice (sanded and some kind of wood finish inside and out), then I would say okay. Not sure of the dimensions, will have to measure one tonight, I have a stack of them at home. Everytime I go into the beverage store I ask if they have any. Most times they give them away.

I just want to make sure the box is a nice, finished, smooth quality.

Ok so I am measuring a box I have in front of me right now. The box is 2" tall. Looking down at the box, from top to bottom is 7.5" and from left to right is 9.25". Ihope that answers the size cleary enough. I see elevn people watching, that's a good sign! Google altered cigar boxes fro some general ideas!.

I wanted to do this swap but I wasn't able to get a hold of a cigar box, so I dropped out. I hope that you host another altered cigar box swap at some point because I really want to do one!

Brain storming today to try to come up with ideas for evils...and trying to decide if I want the evils to really look ugly, or just indulgent????
